Week 16 - 17 Update

Well, I was 17 weeks yesterday. Ellie is really starting to get into the baby thing. She calls the baby "Baby brother/sister". Whenever she sees the ultrasound picture on the computer or refrigerator she points and says, "Mommy, baby brother/sister." She has started to ask to see the baby at night when we snuggle before bed. She thinks the baby is in my belly button. She pulls my shirt up and gives the baby (my belly) hugs and kisses. It's really sweet! Hope it stays that way!!!

We had our 16 week doctor check up on Tuesday. Everything looks really good. Except for the fact that I gained 7 pounds since my last visit. Yikes! The good thing is that I lost weight between my 1st and 2nd visits so I have kind of evened out. I'm up to 150 pounds now. I guess I shouldn't be surprised with how much my belly popped out in the last 2 weeks. I'm in maternitiy clothes full-time now. Believe it or not, that's about 2 to 3 weeks later than I was with Ellie. I tend to look and feel bigger at night. Must be water and food weight gain throughout the day. I was the same way with Ellie. Here's a picture of my belly at 17 weeks.


Back to the OB visit. The baby's heart rate was at 150. I told Dr. Gerber, yes that's really her name, that I've felt little warbles here and there over the past few weeks. Then on Monday the baby was giving me some really good kicks. She was shocked. She said it was so early to feel the baby. Then as she had the dopler on my belling, listening to the heart beat, the baby kicked. She said, "Boy you weren't kidding! I felt that kick!" We're very excited! Doc wants us to have a level 2 ultrasound with our perinatologist just as a precaution even though all of our genetic screening and AFP test have come back normal. We were able to get an appointment scheduled for Dec. 21st. We'll be able to find out the sex of the baby right before Christmas. That's what we were hoping for. We're excited to share the news with all our family for Christmas. My dad and Ty come in on the 21st too for the holiday. We're so excited we're about to bust! Two weeks is not going to go by fast enough!!! So stay tuned for "The News"!
