Eleven months aready?! I can hardly believe it!!! Carter stayed with Nana by himself for the first time for 2 nights while Daddy worked and Mommy and Ellie went down to see Papa Eric. I think this caused some serious anxiety because the poor little guy complete freaks out when I walk away from him. I cannot walk up or down stairs or into another room without him starting to cry. He has also started throwing, what I would call, mini tantrums when he gets mad. He lays himself down on the ground and rolls around when he gets mad. He will also crawl over to me and pull on my leg or lay his head down on my feet if I don't pick him up right away. Dave says it's cute but he is not the one Carter is crawling to and tugging on constantly!! He also seems to get frustrate when he can't get a toy to do what he wants it to do or can't get somewhere he wants to go.
The week of March 17th, Carter all of a sudden decided that he was done with baby food completely. He's been eating big boy food ever since. He loves veggies, especially peas, apples, bananas, grilled cheese, cheese, yogurt and chicken nuggets. Usually he is a pretty good eater too.
On March 22nd, we went to Macomb to visit Papa Eric. We celebrated Carter's first Easter there. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures because our camera was on the fritz. Ugh!!!
In the wee hours of the morning on March 26th, Carter took his first trip to the ER. He had been up crying most of the night. By 2:15 AM we didn't know what else to do. He started with a cold on the 23rd and we thought maybe it might be an ear infection. His ears had fluid and they did a chest x-ray. The Dr. thought he might have viral pneumonia. That scared us to death! We followed up with our pediatrician later in the morning and he said his lungs sounded fine and his ears were not infected yet. So that was a relief. What a rough night!
On March 27th, he drank milk from a sippy cup for the first time. He hasn't really been interested in it that much since. It's much more fun to play with the cup!
On April 3rd we went and bought Carter's first pair of shoes. We went to Stride Rite and spent a fortune on them because he has wide, fat, little feet. On April 4th, he started babbling "na,na". Not sure that he really means "Nana" when he says it but it's pretty cute. On April 5th, Mommy put him in his swing for the first time since last summer. He loved it! Mommy must have pushed him for an hour before Daddy took him out to say hi to the neighbors. He started babbling "la, la" on the 6th.

April 6th was a very big day for this little guy! Mommy put him down on the ground in the backyard to play for the first time. He crawled all the way across the backyard to the sandbox and made his way in. He loved it! Surprisingly he did not put any dirt or sand his his mouth. Boy was he dirty and loved it!

Naps are still up and down. For the most part he takes a 45 minute - 1 1/2 hour nap in the morning. In the afternoon he has been napping longer, like 1 1/2 -2 hours. He's napped as long as 3 hours but that's very rare. He got over his late afternoon nap about 2 months ago. Bedtime is at 7:30. He's still not consistently sleeping through the night. Getting sick 2 weeks ago really screwed him up. We're hoping to be getting back to that soon. Mommy and Daddy are trying really hard to let him "cry it out" to put himself back to sleep but it's really hard!!!
Carter absolutely loves Ellie! He crawls after her as fast as he can to "chase" her. Both of them just laugh and laugh! No one can get him to laugh like Elle can. They play so well together. As soon as he sees her he grins from ear to ear. He makes noises when he is playing with cars, trucks, or fire engines. We just realized last weekend that the noises are the motor or siren noises. I've given him a little fire engine a few times in the past couple of days and told him to make the siren go and he makes this noise that sounds like a siren. It's too cute!
Carter is extremely curious and inquisitive! He also seems to have a long attention span. He studies things and figures out how to do things very quickly. He is in to everything he should not be playing with. He loves to get into the toilet paper and I'm sure would love to play in the toilet if I let him. He loves wires. He also loves to play with the TV remotes and DVD buttons and watches the TV to see what he has done when he pushes the buttons. We're baby proofed around here but of course there are some wires still in plain view, like in our bedroom. I'm constantly trying to keep him away from them! He climbed his first step at out hair dresser's house the other day and climbed up on the first step of Elle's step stool. He got stuck and started whining for me to come and rescue him. Too funny! We've defintely got our hands full with this little guy. I guess this should come as no surprise...
Carter is still cruising around things and walking with anything he can push. He seems pretty strong. Yesterday I realized he must have pushed and walked with our end table because it was not where it's supposed to be. He takes 1 step on his own to get from one thing to another. He is letting go and standing by himself for longer than last month. I keep thinking that one of these days he's just going to take off. We'll see if he does it before his first birthday.

Here's the Little Man stuck under Elle's step stool. It was sooo funny I had to run and get my camera before I rescued him. Poor guy!
