We're back in business. I guess I just got too busy to get a post done sooner and then we've been without a computer for a few weeks. It's a long story but we finally got Dell to send us a new tower since our old one obviously has something wrong with it. Hopefully this one will work much better for us now.
Let's get us up to speed here since it's been so long since my last update. Three weeks ago I was having a lot of discomfort and having to go to the bathroom a lot. I've had a UTI since at least 28 weeks. That's when they discovered it any way. It's the groupie strep bacteria that is very common and lives in the body naturally in a lot of women. The rough part is that for some reason they can't seem to get rid of mine. So I called my doc one day to chat about it because I was having some concerns and she had me come in for a renal ultrasound to make sure I didn't have a blockage or any kidney or bladder stones. Everything checked out okay. We took a peek at Carter as well. We found out that he was pretty big for that point (34 weeks) measuring at 5 1/2 lbs. with 6 weeks to go. My doc decided that the size and position of the baby was what was causing all my discomfort and frequent urgency to pee. She said at that point that we would induce at 39 weeks if I don't go sooner to help save a weeks worth of baby growth.
Last week at my 36 week Dr. visit I had my first internal exam and the doc found me to be already dialated to 1 cm, 50% effaced and the baby was at a -2 station. For those of you that don't have a clue what that means, basically, it means my body has started to do it's thing. :-) I weighed in at 167 1/2 lbs. I was happy about that because according to a different scale in the office I gained 5 1/2 lbs. in 2 weeks at my 34 week visit and was at 169 lbs. I find that very hard to believe. Especially when I lost a pound and a half the next week. But whatever...
Yesterday at my 37 week visit I weighed in at 167 lbs. So the old tale that you gain weight rapidly in your last couple months of pregnancy doesn't seem to be working out right for me. I seem to be losing it. Better not say that too much. LOL!!! As for baby progess, I was the same as the week before, 1 cm dialated, 50% effaced and -2 station. I looked back at my pregnancy calendar that I kept with Ellie and found that I was at 1 cm exactly 2 weeks and 2 days before she was born. I didn't change until the night before she was born to 2 cm. We'll see if that holds true for this little guy. If not, we have a firm induction date for Friday, May 11th. That's 2 weeks from today!
I've had a hard time getting excited about this whole deal. Not sure why other than having so many other emotions running rampid to get too excited. However, I think getting that firm date has sparked a little excitement. Ellie and Dave are definitely excited! Elle has been really snuggly lately and the last couple of nights has wanted to "see" Baby Carter. That's her way of asking me to lift up my shirt. She hugs my belly and says, "Oh I just love his so much." One night she knelt down to "look" in my belly button to see Carter. She said, "I see him!" Then she looked again and she said, "He sees me!" She has said a couple other times that she wants her Baby Carter. Dave told me yesterday that he thinks he's more anxious for this one to come than he was with Ellie. He said that he just can't wait to see Ellie with Carter. I think we're all feeling that way!
I think I'm ready other than the house being a complete dirty pit. We're going to work on that this weekend. I've got all the baby clothes, bedding, etc. washed and put away. I've got bottles washed. Dave has the carseat almost installed. He installed it yesterday and we decided we need to get some anti-slip stuff under it since we have leather seats. But it's almost installed. It's at least in the truck. We all have our bags packed and ready to grab at a moments notice. Now it's just a matter of playing the waiting game. That's the hardest part right now with having a little girl to worry about this time around.
I think that's about it for right now. I'm going to go ahead and post this one even though I don't have a new picture yet. I'm going to try to remember to have Dave take one tomorrow. For the time being, here is a picture of my belly at what I think was 34 weeks.
