I've had this ready to post for a couple of weeks now and have been having computer problems. I'm actually almost 24 weeks now (on Thursday). It's actually Jan. 23rd even though the post says Jan. 10th. I have my 24 week visit next week already! I'll have another update then. I can't seem to upload a picture on this post so I'll put the picture on another post. So for now, here's my very late 20 week update:
I had my 20 week OB visit on Jan. 3rd. Everything continues to go well. I gained another 2 pounds. I believe that I'm up to 152 now. I truely cannot believe it wasn't more with all the cookies I consumed over Christmas! The baby's heart rate was at 152. He's moving around a ton. Even starting to wake me up at night. Or at least keep me up if I when I wake up on my own. Not sure which it is. Dave got to feel him kick for the first time on Sat. (Jan. 6th). That's always a very cool time!
A few days before Christmas I started getting really tired. More than usual. I just figured it was due to all the extra family activity and I over did it. A week later and I wasn't bouncing back. I mentioned it to my Dr. and she decided to do a blood count. Turns out my iron level was a bit low so I am not on an extra iron supplement along with my prenatal vitamin.
I've had back and hip pain for awhile now but it's increasingly gotten worse. Over Christmas I was down right miserable. I guess I now know what it means to be down in the back. I could not move a muscle without extreme shots of pain. My hips are bothering me when I sleep at night. I just can't get comfortable. I flip and flop most of the night. I am back to seeing my chiropractor once a week (was going once every 2 weeks) now and doing some stretching exercises. I think it might be helping enough to take the edge off. I'm hoping to get ahead of it soon. Otherwise, it's going to be a long and miserable 4 1/2 months!
Ellie came down with a cold New Year's day. She very thoughtfully gave it to me. I started with it 2 days later. Of coarse I got it worse than she did. I ended up with, I think, the flu. I had terrible body and head aches and ran a low grade fever. Not fun at all!!! I'm not into a week of it and still blow lots of stuff from my nose, have a terrible headache and am just exhausted. At least I'm starting to get over it.
My belly is also starting to become increasingly more uncomfortable. I'm feeling constant pressure, pulling and stretching all over my belly but the worst is at the top.
As I read over this, it sure does seem like all I'm doing is complaining. I guess it's just cause I've been sick lately. On a brighter note, I am enjoying feeling the little guy move around so much. We are still trying to come up with a name that we both like. It's really hard! Unique boy names are hard to come by! Especially since I'm a teacher and have had so many names ruined or multiples of the same names over the years. So if you have any good, unique name ideas, please pass them along. My next OB visit will be on Jan. 31st.
