6 Months

Can you believe it?!!! We made it to the 6 month mark. Carter is growing and changing by the day! He's up to over 18 pounds now. I still swear he weighs a ton! He is sitting very well and able to correct his balance on his own. We have caught him almost pushing himself up from his belly to a sit. He is able to turn on his belly to get to something he wants. He is just starting to belly crawl / push himself forward a bit to get to things that are just out of reach. He is able to get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth. We don't think it will be long before this guy is mobile. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's after Christmas but I wouldn't bet the ranch on it.

Carter is taking longer naps at times. He will usually take at least one 2 hour nap in the morning or in the afternoon. He's still pretty inconsistant with his sleeping through the night. He's done it several times but it's just not consistant yet.

Carter has been taking 8 oz. bottles consistantly for about a month now. We started him on rice cereal about a week before his 6 month birthday. He really wasn't sure about it. It took several tries on a couple of different days to get him to take it. We have since moved on to oatmeal cereal because the rice really seemed to clog him up. We've tried peas, carrots and sweet potatoes so far. He really doesn't like the peas and carrots! The sweet potatoes are still up in the air but it's better than the others so far. We've kind of had a set back with his eating. Carter started with a cold almost 2 weeks ago and just hasn't been all the interested in eating. For awhile all he wanted were bottles and he wasn' t taking much at a time. He seems to be getting back on track slowly but surely the past couple of days. On Thanksgiving I pulled a no, no and let him try mashed potatoes and the broth from my grandma's homemade noodles. I just couldn't resist it. The potatoes didn't go over so well but he really seemed to like the broth. He's so funny, he shutters at anything you put in his mouth. We just laugh at him.

Now back to the above mentioned cold. About 4 days after Carter started with his 2nd cold he started weezing. I didn't think it was any big deal. I just thought it was part of the cold. I took him to the Dr. last Sat. and we ended up having to do Albuterol nebulizer treatments for 2 days to help him out. I was shocked! We had to do a treatment every 4 hours for the 1st 24 hours, even through the night, and 4 times the next day. The Dr. said they won't diagnose him with Asthma before 2 years of age unless it becomes a reoccurring problem. I just about died! So we're praying that this was just a 1 time fluke thing and we don't have to go down that road again. He is doing fine since his treatments but is still struggling to get over his cold. He also ended up with his first ear infection this time around too. You wouldn't have known it except that he had a bit of a fever and the Dr. saw fluid in there on Sat. By Mon. it was fully infected with fluid in the other ear. So he's on his first Amoxicillian to clear it up. We go back to the Dr. in 2 1/2 weeks for a check up and his late 6 month physical.

Otherwise, Carter is a very happy little boy. He loves to jump in his Jumperoo and smiles all the time unless he's tired or hungry. He loves his big sister and watches her intently. She was able to make him really laugh for the first time the other night. We've had little giggles here and there but this was a full blown laugh and Elle wasn't doing anything but standing next to his highchair. It's so awesome to watch them interact. I will lay in bed with them in the morning or before bed at night and he just rolls on to her and reaches for her. The next few months should be really neat to watch them interact more as he becomes more mobile and see when the fighting begins. LOL!! Here are some more pictures of the Little Man!

What a silly Little Man!

Ahhhh! Naked baby!!!

He's going to hate me for these some day but I just couldn't resist it!

I mean, who can resist a cute little baby butt?!

Momma's Boy!

"I'm such a big man! I can sit!!!"

"What the heck is this stuff? Yuck!"

I love the pictures with the two of them! They are so cute together! Ellie already looks like an old soul - like she's been around the block a few times.
That stinks about the asthma. The only thing that could be good, is I've heard if they have it young, they grow out of it. If they get it later, then it gets worse. Let's just hope he doesn't have it at all!

Oh my gosh, those are such cute pictures!! I love them ALL!!!!

I can't believe how close Carter is to crawling! That's just craziness to me. I had Lee on rice cereal for about 3 days. He was so gassy and iritable, I wanted to strangle him. He was not pooping either. once I went to oatmeal, it was a miracle food. He loves it. He's up to 2.5 tablespoons every morning. He's also not wanting his bottles anymore. He will refuse his bottle and then eat a whole jar of babyfood. I have no idea what to do... did Elle or Carter ever do that?
